How to get in

First, gain admission to the University of Kansas.

Freshman students are admitted to the School of Business one of two ways (explained below):

Freshman Admission

Incoming freshmen are eligible for direct admission to the School of Business if they meet all of the following requirements:

  • Earn an ACT score of 25 or above or a SAT combined score of 1150 or above (math and critical reading)
  • Earn at least a 3.25 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Indicate a business major on application to KU

Competitive Admission

Students that do not meet Freshmen Admission requirements may apply to the School through the competitive admissions process. These students would apply during the semester they will complete the following minimum application requirements:

  • Junior standing (60 credit hours)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall AND in business and economics coursework (both KU and non-KU credits)
  • Completion of foundational coursework:
    • ACCT 200 Financial Accounting I
    • ACCT 201 Managerial Accounting I
    • DSCI 301 Statistics
    • IST 301 Introduction to Information Systems
    • ECON 142 Microeconomics
    • ECON 144 Macroeconomics

Students must also submit a professional resume at the time of application. Applicants satisfying these requirements are ranked by academic merit and considered for admission based on rank and available space.

Current KU students that wish to enter the School of Business must go through the Competitive Admissions process. There are two application cycles each year – a February 15 deadline for fall admission, and a September 15 deadline for spring admission. Admission for spring 2014 is now live. Apply here.

All new transfer students must first gain admission to the University of Kansas through the Office of Admissions (domestic students) or International Undergraduate Admissions (international students). The University application process entails submitting complete academic records to KU for evaluation.

Only students admitted to KU through one of these two University admissions “points of entry” are permitted to complete the KU School of Business application. Please note that indicating a Business major on your application to KU does not grant you entry into the School of Business. Admission to the School of Business is done through a separate process, referred to as Competitive Admission.

Transfer students would apply during the semester they will complete the following minimum application requirements:
